Appearance: Emi Yuko inherited white hair and grey colored eyes from her mother. She keeps her hair as long as her waist, though she frequently will put it into a high pony-tail or braid, or into a low pony-tail with the end secured with another band. The layered hair that doesn’t fit into a pony-tail is often let to sit freely around her face.

Emi will wear her clothes in a typical shinobi fashion though she prefers to wear gloves that are solid black and fingerless around her hands, but are fishnet to her elbows. She also wears a white sleeve-less shirt that goes to her mid-drift. Her stomach is covered by wraps that cover her entire torso and up to her biceps. Her pants are fashioned so that one leg is a pair of shorts, a kunai sheath attached to her thigh, and the other leg ends at the top of her open-toed boots.

Personality: When Emi was younger, her peers knew her for her analytical and bookish nature. Many of them referred to her as a genius. After the death of her brother, Yuko maintained her top marks, however she seemed starved for the approval and attention of others. Her personality changed from bookish to flirtatious and outgoing. Despite her friendly nature to everyone in the village, she is withdrawn and doesn’t talk about anything personal. Neither does she spend any time with friends, stating that she’s busy even when she has no homework to do. Underneath the bubbly, flirtatious personality is a strongly driven girl shinobi, eager to prove her worth and atone for something horrible that happened in her past.

One thing that was not changed by the death of her older brother is her fascination with origami and butterflies. By association, she has a fascination with anything that she can relate to her admiration of butterflies.

Character's History: Emi was born to two ninja parents who already had a seven year old son named Haruki. Her father was a Medical ninja and her white-haired mother was particularly valued as a Tracking ninja. It was clear from a young age that Emi quickly took after her intellectual mother, as the girl excelled in many of her studies and began pouring over any reading material as soon as she could read. Despite her brother being seven years older, both siblings found a similar interest in origami art. Perhaps this was something they had learned an admiration for because their mother often used paper explosives and tracking devices.

Haruki had a particular fascination for butterflies though, and often shared this fascination with his younger sister when she would follow him when he trained near home. Even though Haruki was still a ninja student himself, as soon as Emi proved that she could hold her own, he allowed her to train with him. Emi truly admired her brother and believed him to be one of the best ninja that the village had, after their mother of course. The girl proved to be a quick study, and Haruki was amazed at the talent she had developed by the age of 6.

However Haruki was gone more and more frequently, leaving Emi to study and train by herself. One day, at the age of nine, the itch of adventure was too much to bear. That coupled with how much she missed her brother drove her to test her tracking skills to follow her brother and his team. Perhaps she would even be able to prove that she had as much skill as the practiced Genin.

Unfortunately this lapse in childlike wonder proved to be a fatal trial for Emi. Even though she succeeded in tracking her brother and his team for a short time, she had not anticipated any rival ninjas or how truly dangerous her idea had been. Captured by rival ninja, she was held hostage to use as a leverage against Haruki's team.

A fight broke out, and during the scuffle, Emi - gagged and bound - was thrown into the river and immediately was swept away by the current. It was Haruki that went after her to save the life of his little sister. He successfully retrieved her from the river, however as he was trying to revive her, he was struck a fatal blow by one of the rival ninja. Their team's medic could not get to him in time to prevent his death. It was an unnecessary loss, even though Haruki's team settled the dispute.

Ever since, Emi has never forgiven herself for causing the death of her brother. She also considers herself a traitor and danger to Kirigakure village. Emi has become secretly obsessed with finding a way to atone for 'killing' her brother as well as seeking the acceptance and approval of Kirigakure. That is had lead her to train beyond the point of utter exhaustion, and to study various forms of jutsu, hoping to find or develop a style that would make her invaluable.

Emi took notice of a boy, just a year older than her, who trained hard and seemed to be driven by a force just like herself. Emi saw a piece of herself in this Yuushiro Kubo, and decided to treat him as an adequate rival, although he never seemed to acknowledge her. Which just added to her need to gain acceptance from another member of her village. Even though her view towards him began as a familiar and a rival, she began to take notice in him from afar when he refused to follow the typical shinobi dress. Emi began to symbollically view Kubo as a butterfly.

He soon became not just some rival through this view, but as a reincarnation of her brother. An unwavering attachment and loyalty was developed towards him, whether or not he noticed it. (He probably just saw her as an annoying flirt.) When Emi was fourteen, she noticed that Kubo developed an attachment to the Mizukage, and his skills began to grow. To gain acceptance from Kubo and the Mizukage would fulfill Emi's stigma, so she trained harder herself, and delved deeper into her secret studies.




Nindo: The butterfly is beautiful and carefree, floating on the breeze… How many realize how much hard work and isolation that creature has gone through to be elevated so high that it is impossible not to admire?

Goal: To thoroughly atone the death of her brother and to earn the right to live instead of him.
